Summary
A decorative band or panel that runs horizontally along the upper part of a wall or the underside of a ceiling in Classical architecture. It often contains sculptures, carvings, or painted scenes and is commonly found in temples, public buildings, and other structures with Classical design elements.
In Greek and Roman architecture, the frieze is part of the entablature, situated above the architrave and below the cornice.
